Gardening
Healthy, nourishing and rewarding. Our gardening projects supply food to the cafe and houses.
Healthy, nourishing and rewarding. Our gardening projects supply food to the cafe and houses.
Our gardening project splits into three main categories. Firstly, we supply the Sharpthorne Organic Café with soft fruit and apples mostly grown by us in the Hoathly Hill garden. Currently we grow a lot of raspberries, blackcurrants and gooseberries, much of which is made into jam or juice. We also supply small quantities of seasonal vegetables to the Café and to the Pericles households.
Secondly, we mow the grass and maintain the paths around the Pericles workshop and office area, as well as the car park and some other areas of Hoathly Hill. And, thirdly, we make bio-dynamic compost for the whole of Hoathly Hill, caring for the composting process and for the compost and burning heap area.
We are delighted to have and very grateful for the support of our sponsors including: the Community Initiative Fund of West Sussex County Council - Garfield Weston Foundation - Hermes Trust - Mansell McTaggart - Mid Sussex District Council - Rotary East Grinstead - Soroptimist International East Grinstead - Sussex Community Foundation
