Wood Recycling Project

Learning woodcraft at the recycling centre in Haywards Heath

The Mid Sussex Wood Recycling Project is one of our valued partners, offering opportunities for Pericles students to work alongside their team while receiving support and guidance from Pericles staff. We have our own designated area on-site where we learn and develop skills, undertaking tasks such as dismantling wooden pallets, de-nailing, sawing to length, sorting and stacking. It’s great to see how we can help conserve and reuse materials as well as designing and creating our own unique products to sell.

The Mid Sussex Wood Recycling Project are a Social Enterprise; a not-for-profit environmental group that is financially self-supporting. Their income is derived from the charges they make for their collection service, and from sales of wood and wood products. Any surplus is reinvested so that they can continue to provide a vital environmental service to the Mid Sussex area.

Their sustainable and ethical business model has placed them at No. 6 in the RBS SE100 Index for the Recycling and Environment Sector in the UK.
